Businessmen Meet on Qatar's Economy Competitiveness on Sunday

The General Secretariat for Development Planning (GSDP) in cooperation with the Qatar Statistics Authority (QSA) will hold a meeting with Qatari businessmen tomorrow, Sunday, at Doha-Grand Regency Hotel to discuss issues that affect their ability to compete in local, regional and global markets.
Around 200 representatives of business community are expected to participate in the meeting.
Dr. Hischam, Executive Director of the International Institute for Management Development in Switzerland (IMD), which prepares an annual global competitiveness report, will address the meeting and explain the most recent results for Qatar.
It is anticipated that the outcome of the meeting will contribute to improved survey methods and will help identify measures that can further enhance Qatar s competitiveness.
Dr. Saleh Mohamed Al-Nabit, Secretary-General of the General Secretariat for Development Planning, commented that "effective engagement with the private sector is a must if Qatar is to successfully diversify its economy and globally compete .
In 2011, Qatar ranked 8th among 59 countries in the IMD s competitiveness league table.
